Urban Bricolage

  • Research and training

The project "Urban Bricolage. Mining, Designing and Constructing with Reused Building Materials", funded by the SNSF as part of the PRIMA program, is studying the emergence of the circular economy for building materials in four European countries: Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Poland.

The project focuses on the practical problems encountered by scrap dealers, intermediaries, architects, engineers, digital specialists, business managers and carpenters when working with reused materials.

In an innovative way, this project combines architectural debates on ecological requirements, technical possibilities, aesthetic reconfiguration and the transformability of re-used materials with an anthropological approach.

Beyond its scientific importance, the team is also involved in academic and public activities aimed at encouraging reuse practices in Switzerland and elsewhere.
